Interference from Soluble Iron on Mercury Determination in Water by Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (CV-AAS) with Sodium Borohydride as Reductant

چکیده
This study demonstrated the signal enhancement interference from soluble iron (Fe) during mercury (Hg) determination in water by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (CV-AAS) using sodium borohydride (NaBH4) as reductant. In presence of 50 mg L−1 Fe, Hg values will be overestimated around 25%. The reason for is still unclear, but it speculated to attributable catalyst function equilibrium reduction reaction between Hg2+ and BH4− Fe formed at same time. Using matrix matching calibration standards prepared solution, problem overestimation could minimized. also indicated that stannous chloride (SnCl2), another common reductant analysis, does not suffer NaBH4.

Determination of mercury in the urine by atomic absorption spectrometry - cold vapor technique
Urine is a liquid waste product of the body. Substances that are ingested and fail to be apsorbed are excreted, solid waste through the intestines, the urine through the kidney and ureter and another fluid from the body through perspiration. Determination of mercury content of urine is not included in routine examinations, but mercury can be present in urine at concentrations that could have se...

Determination of mercury(II) ion by electrochemical cold vapor generation atomic absorption spectrometry.
A technique for determination of mercury is described; it is based on electrolytic reduction of Hg(II) ion on a graphite cathode, the trapping of mercury vapor and its volatilization into a quartz tube aligned in the optical path of an atomic absorption spectrometer. The electrochemical cell consisted of a graphite cathode and an anode operating with constant direct current for the production o...
متن کاملDirect determination of mercury in blood by use of sodium borohydride reduction and atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
A method is presented for the rapid determination of total mercury in blood. The reagent used is alkaline sodium borohydride, and no digestion of the sample is needed. The detection limit and sensitivity are 1.15 and 1.59 ng of Hg, respectively. The method gives reproducible results (the CV ranged from 5.3 to 6.7% for low and high mercury blood samples, respectively), comparable to those obtain...
متن کاملDetermination of mercury concentration in the air of dental clinics and the urines of their personnel with cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry
Background: Dental clinics are known to be one of the largest users of Toxic inorganic mercury. It is well documented that dentists and dental assistants who work with amalgam are chronically exposed to mercury vapor. This study investigates exposure to mercury vapor in a dental clinic. Methods: GBC cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), using sodium borohydride as the reducing age...
